Explanation of Calculation: The millage rate is the portion of the budget to be funded by tax dollars divided by the Net Tax Digest (40% figure). Because the result represents the amount of tax on every $1 of property value, this calculator also multiplies the product by 1,000 to calculate the amount of tax on every $1,000 of value, which is the figure adopted by taxing jurisdictions each year.
