Gwinnett County

Summary: Gwinnett County budgeted for $258,823,173 in property tax dollars to fund its 2005 budget. However, the millage rate approved by the County Commission will fail to fully fund the budget, generating only 231,806,146-- 89% of and $27,017,026 short of the amount necessary.

The adopted millage, 10.14*, is the same as the Commission approved last year.

The mathematically-correct millage rate is 11.322

The share of the deficit for the owner of a $150,000** home in Gwinnett is $70.91. In other words, the owner of the described property will pay $70.91 less in county property taxes than if the Commission had adopted a mathematically-correct rate.

Resources

*For 2005, the county will combine its general and fire service millage rates. The total will equal last year's rates at 10.14.

**assessed value. This value does not include exemptions, which may lower your actual tax liability.
