City of Dacula

Summary: This city in fast-growing eastern Gwinnett projected that $335,000 of its $2.5 million 2005 budget would have to come from property tax dollars. However, the City Council has adopted a millage rate of 4.40, the same rate as last year, which is expected to bring in at least $95,000 more than is necessary to fully fund this year's budget.

The mathematically-correct millage rate is 3.428, almost a full mill lower.

The owner of a $150,000** home in Dacula will pay $264 in property taxes, almost $60 more than his/her fair share to fund the cost of city government this year.
