City of Lilburn

Summary: This western Gwinnett city operates on a 2005-2006 budget of $7,400,511. Of that amount, $1,432,000 will be funded by property tax dollars. The City Council has adopted a millage rate of 4.26, the same rate as the previous year, which is mathematically incorrect.

The inflated rate is expected to bring in at least $146,004 more than is necessary to fully fund this year's budget.

The mathematically-correct millage rate is 3.866.

The owner of a $150,000** home in Lilburn will pay $255.60 in property taxes, about $23.65 more than what would be required with a mathematically-correct millage rate.
